McCarthy Field
McCarthy Field is the home field for the Jets' Baseball team. What was once a barren wheat field is now a beautiful ballpark with an old time feel. The dimensions of McCarthy Field are 335' to left field, 320' to right field and 390' to centerfield. The outfield wall is 8' high around the outfield except for in centerfield where Newman has its own "Green Monster standing 25' high. Also near the field, the Jets have four enclosed batting cages. The Jets have an adjacent area for tee and soft-toss work, as well. Newman University is one of few schools to have a clubhouse attached directly to its field. This spacious area allows for personal lockers, a lounge area consisting of couches, recliners, a video/entertainment center, as well as ping-pong table for player competition. This area is air-conditioned and heated for year-round use. The clubhouse was recently painted, and new tile to encourage players to spend free time at the field.
